Treatment
An individualized treatment plan is developed for each client by our multidisciplinary team of professionals which include Psychiatrist, nurses, teachers, therapists and mental health technicians. These professionals work with the family to develop an interactive and flexible, safe, environment for positive change. Our treatment plans and therapeutic assignments are individualized and based on each client’s abilities and needs. We offer 24-hour care for all of our clients.

Nursing
Clients are followed by RN case mangers that coordinate their care. They manage all medical appointments that include physicals, vision and dental appointments. They also manage the Multi-disciplinary team meetings that provide the team an opportunity to discuss each clients’ treatment individually on a regular basis. They coordinate the psychiatric care with our psychiatrist. The nursing team provides direct nursing care to all of our clients 7 days a week and are on call 24/7 for any nursing needs that may arise. They are in frequent contact with client guardians to communicate any needs that the client may have that are either medically based or behaviorally based.
Levels of Care
Boys and Girls Home of Alaska is unique in that we are one of very few facilities that provide two distinctive levels of care for clients. This allows clients a continuum of care as they progress from one level to another. The levels of care that we offer are:
Residential Child Care Facility (RCCF) – Level III
Residential Child Care Facility programs provide residential care and treatment for clients who have emotional and mental health problems and display inadequate coping skills. Clients may have a history of being physically and/or sexually abused, a history of delinquency, and have limited impulse control.
Residential Psychiatric Treatment Center (RPTC) – Level V
Residential Psychiatric Treatment Center programs provide intensive services to clients at the highest level of need. This level of service is for clients who exhibit extreme functional impairment and are experiencing serious emotional disturbance that requires a 24-hour interdisciplinary, psychotherapeutic treatment in a secure, locked facility.
Keeping Alaska youth at home is a significant focus for everyone. By being located in Fairbanks, we provide accessibility for family participation in treatment that is so critically important for the treatment success of the children and families we serve. We accept Medicaid, Denali Kid Care, and most insurance plans, making our services available to all.
